About the Event

In this afternoon workshop, participants will learn tips and tricks to refining a TRUE story from their lives. With many prompts and interactive activities, participants will think through the best way to craft a story from their lives for telling onstage, enriching the story with salient details, reflection, humor or emotion, and emergent archetypes, themes or revelations. We will focus on planning out the beginning, middle and end, while also allowing the art of live storytelling to generate magic for the storyteller and the audience. We will practice and review ways to  hold a confident stage presence.  While there is no pressure to share the story on stage, participants will have the opportunity to be showcased at the next Storied Self event on September 27th with the theme: water.

Instructor Bios:

Celia Alario - Celia Alario plays at the intersection of social justice communications, culture shaping and wellbeing coaching. Celia's been sharing skills on storytelling and public speaking for more than two decades. She’s exploring how, by changing up the stories we tell, we can change everything--and build a more livable and people powered future. Count on her for chocolate, glitter, poodles and transformational confabs.

Sarah Stevens - Sarah is a psychotherapist and soul activist who values both the ritualistic act of storytelling as well as the ways our stories create our life experiences and expand our ability to be in communion with others. She values all things sacred and spends her free time connecting to herself, other humans, non-human animals, and nature.
